About Porch Couch

We make sounds that are decent for every mood:
Chill enough to sink in to a couch and vibe
Lively enough to make you bop on your porch

Porch Couch is an indie alternative rock band hailing from Ithaca, New York, bringing together a unique blend of introspective lyrics and infectious melodies that capture the essence of modern indie rock.

Consisting of founders and brothers Nick "Kolas" Santamarina and Vin E Santamarina. Along with Joel "Wild Poncho" Teitelbaum.

From The Beginning..

In 2011 Nick and Vin were a part of a small indie rock band called The Wishing Wire. Other than their previous project Lady Parts, this was the first time they both wrote music together. Nick mostly played bass and didn't get much of a chance to play his own songs, so he and Vin started a side project a few years later which would be known as Mind The Gap. In The MTG Era, Vin and Nick played all around New York State, won a battle of the bands at The Westcott Theater in Syracuse, and recorded 2 EP's consisting of 11 raw and energizing songs. By 2015 they were on a roll, but unfortunately mental health played a role and the brothers disbanded. After the death of their Uncle, who influenced them both in music, they decided to put their differences aside and give it one more go. Now as of 2021, as Porch Couch, the brothers are back to playing all around the state, only this time having more and bigger shows.

The only issue? They both live far away from each other. With Vin stationed in Brooklyn and Nick in Ithaca, they have found a way to bring on the challenge and defy the odds.

With PA native and current Lansing/Crossroads resident Joel on the bass, who brings a solid and smooth foundation to the music, they are doing more headlining shows than ever before, including their EP release party on 12.12.25.

So What Now?

With their debut EP "Free" released 11.11.2025, the band has established themselves as an emerging voice in the upstate New York music scene. The six-track EP showcases their ability to craft emotionally resonant songs that blend alternative rock sensibilities with indie pop accessibility. Finishing the concoction with some sprinkles of brit pop influences.

From the soaring opener "Little Bird" to the introspective closer "Out of Time," Porch Couch demonstrates a maturity and polish that belies their status as a new act. Tracks like "Look No More" and "We Could Make It (If We Tried)" have already become fan favorites at their energetic live shows.

Whether performing at intimate venues like Piano's in NYC or celebrating their EP release at Funk N' Waffles in Syracuse, Porch Couch delivers performances that are both authentic and captivating. Their music speaks to anyone who's ever felt caught between where they are and where they want to be—making it, as they say, "deeeeeeecent."
